metro alert. managers say the transit agency's new sexual harassment website is a success. it allows riders to alert police officers to criminals targeting passengers on the rail system. fox 5's john henrehan is monitoring metro tonight. >> reporter: at last week's board meeting metro transit police chief michael taborn said the agency's website inviting riders to complain about unwanted sexual conduct is getting results. since going into operation earlier this year, the website has garnered about 1/4 complaints regard ing sleazy behavior on metro and police have concluded more than half the time the inappropriate behavior has risen to the level of criminal conduct. now in every single metro car there's a call button through which passengers can talk to the train operator. chief taborn says he understands that some passengers would rather use the website later real estate than

make a complaint while an incident is still in progress. >> notification is notification. we can follow up. i couldn't want to jeopardize an innocent bystander. >> reporter: in july metro passengers began reporting a set of incidents. >> he had exposed himself on the train to the individual. >> reporter: did she report it afterward or contemporaneously or who filed a report on that occasion? >> she did. it was the first incident and she reported to the metro transit police department. she went to the station manager and reported it to him. >> reporter: it happened again the next morning. that incident was reported via the anti-harassment website and transit police started focusing on a suspect description. then passengers aboard a train headed into national airport station reported yet another incident of exposure. officer karen valencia was on duty at that station. >> i was able to stop the train and i was able to stop a

suspect that matched the description that was given to me by dispatch. >> reporter: 48-year-old robert lee scott jr. of capitol heights, maryland, was subsequently convicted and is serving a four-month sentence in the arlington county jail and also faces charges in connection with at least one of the other incidents which happened in d.c. authorities say the website helped close the case. the detective and the officer who made the arrest got a round of applause from metro board members. john henrehan, fox 5 news. sports is up next when we come back. rg3 says hey, what concussion? as the super rookie shines at home against the vikings, highlights are next. >> mother nature served up great weather today, but look at the midsection of the country and guess what? it's all heading our way. i'll have the details on what to expect coming up after the break.
